 General Tips For Dog Owners

When you get your dog start off on the right foot, prevention is always better then cure. Take your dog to training, socialise it and if you’re not sure what to do ask. You can refer back to the breeder, ask your vet or contact a trainer.

Sometimes it is necessary to look at what your dog was bred for originally to carry out effective training. It is always a good idea to research the breed background then you will know your dogs capabilities. All dogs can be trained, but natural instincts are always there.

Never leave a child alone with any dog no matter how safe you think it is.

Educate your child with the do’s and don’ts around dogs so they learn how to behave and treat dogs properly.

Don’t let any person under the age of sixteen walk a dog without a responsible adult. Your child and dog may be ok but what would happen if they were confronted with an aggressive dog.

Don’t let your dog free roam, you never know what it is getting up to.

Don’t let your dog annoy your neighbours with consist barking or howling – you could be reported to the council or the R.S.P.C.A. If your dog is like this then there may be a problem which needs addressing

Don’t let your dog annoy strangers when out on a walk, you may like dogs but not everyone does, respect other peoples views.

Finally…………………….

A WELL TRAINED DOG IS A HAPPY DOG

Make an effort with your dog, training is the key, don’t just assume your dog will know what you want from it.
