Sprite is a 16 hand, 5 year old Irish Sports horse. He grew up with a view of open Irish country side, running free with his companions. Once in England his owner decided to try clicker training him for extra stimulation and to help with his exercises. It has proven a useful tool over the last few months when the freeze ment not a lot of riding and when Sprite decided he didn't like the farrier!
So far Sprite has learnt to:
Walk backwards
Stay
Come on cue
Target objects and touch on cue
Follow target stick - in the process of free lunge work
Pick up a ball
These are being developed and have helped with his over all control. It has helped to teach him some patience and to keep still while his rider gets on.
